Ready for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and the Paralympics?
There’s only 405 days left until the games begin!
During the period of the Olympic Games, from July 24th to August 9th, 2020, there will 33 sports and 339 events featured. More than 12,000 athetes are expected to participate, and the games will be mainly held in and around the Tokyo area.
Summer 2020 will be Tokyo’s second go at hosting this world event, with the last time being the 1964 Olympics, 56 years ago. With all the ads and signs you see around Japan, you can see how the whole country is excited about it all!
If you reside out of Japan and you’re hoping to go to the games, you will need to go to your country’s designated Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR). Currently, tickets sold through the official website are only for those who reside within Japan. Read their official page for further details.
Most of the Olympic/Paralympic opening ceremonies begin with fireworks. Usually these are pretty impressive displays, of course, but one Japanese company is attempting something never-seen-before in their contribution to the Japanese event. This brand new firework will imitate a shooting star for the opening ceremony! Just imagine; the scale of this ceremony is going to be extreme! Take a look at the company’s website for more on their project.
Tokyo 2020’s vision is to “strive for your best!”, “accept one another!” and to “pass on a legacy for the future!”
Odaiba is going to be the venue for the aquatics and triathlon events of the games. Right in the area there’s the Oedo Onsen, Aquacity Shopping Centre, and the observation deck at the Fuji TV offices.
Odaiba Marine Park
If you’re planning to check out events like marathon swimming or triathlon, you’re going to be spending some time in Odaiba. The Marine Park venue can hold up to 10,000 people, are you ready to be one of them?
